I received my B.A. in Sociology and Women’s Studies from Syracuse University and am now a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at the CUNY Graduate Center. My dissertation topic is on the ruling party of Zimbabwe’s continued grip on state power, despite conditions that might predict the regime’s breakdown. I became interested in Zimbabwean politics after having studied in Harare in 1997-1998, and again for a year in 2002. Over the past decade, I witnessed many important political changes and wanted to make sense of them within a broader theoretical context.

Prior to becoming a Writing Fellow, I taught in the Political Science departments at Baruch and Hunter Colleges. In addition to teaching, I worked as a research associate for the Program on States and Security and for the UN Intellectual History Project at the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies at the Graduate Center. I am excited about participating in the WAC program at Queens College, which is an excellent resource for students and faculty.
